This sounds so completely silly . . . but this week I am thankful that our insurance check came and we can put the whole getting robbed thing behind us! Simple (and slightly petty) thing to be thankful for, but I think I’m most thankful for the peace of mind that this gives to me.

Lately I’ve been watching the show on Showtime (I’ve been watching the DVD) called The Tudors. Yes, it’s a bit on the racy side, but I’m finding the historical elements of it far more fascinating. While I always knew that the Anglican Church came out of the events of Henry VIII’s . . . wife-changing, it was never so obvious to me how intertwined religion was with the whole thing. I’m at the end of season two right now, and Anne Boleyn’s about to lose her head. As I watch, it makes me realize how thankful I am that I live in a country where I am free to practice my faith without fear of death! There are so many places still today where people do not have this right. That is what I am thankful for this week.

It’s been a while since I posted – I got started with my internship, and just as things started to get settled, something awful happened. On September 15, our house was broken into, and we were cleaned out. They took pretty much everything that they could turn around quickly – TVs, video games, jewelry, etc. It was heartbreaking, and I’m still working on getting things together for the insurance claim.

However, the more important thing is what I am thankful for this week. No one was home except the cats, and they were all unharmed. While our things were taken (some of which were irreplaceable), no one was hurt, I am SO THANKFUL that God kept us safe and away from a potentially dangerous situation, and that the cats were not hurt through all this.

Acts 20:28

As I briefly mentioned earlier, I have begun “church shopping” here in Atlanta. Today I am not only thankful that I live in a country where I can pick which church I go to, but I am thankful for all the options that Atlanta has to offer! I was unable to find a church home where I felt comfortable in North Carolina, and so far I’ve visited 2 churches that I have really enjoyed – The Cathedral of St. Philip and Saint Martin In The Fields Church. While they were both Episcopalian churches, they each had their own distinctive style (which is one of the things I love about the Episcopalian church – lots of different styles, but they all have the liturgy and doctrine in common). I think I’m going to look around a bit more, just to make sure I’m not missing anything, but at the moment I’m leaning toward St. Philip’s.

I think this week I will visit St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church. I also might visit St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, though it is a little further away from my house. Anyone in the Atlanta area have any suggestions?

I know it’s not Thursday (yesterday was busier than I anticipated), but I’m so thankful that I’m posting late!

It’s fairly obvious that I’ve been away for a couple of weeks – first I had finals, then I had spring break. Over spring break I traveled to Florida to see my parents (and clean out the garage, LOL) and then I traveled to Atlanta, GA for internship interviews.

And THAT is what I’m thankful for! I was offered an internship at my first choice theatre, the Alliance Theatre, and I happily accepted! I’m really excited for this opportunity, and I am pumped about moving to Atlanta! I also interviewed at a couple of other theatres, and I really enjoyed meeting the leaders of those organizations. I know I’ll definitely be attending their upcoming shows once I move, and I hope that I get to talk with them both in the future.

So – thanks God! I’m excited!

Yesterday was a very busy and tiring day, and today has simply been a bad day. I’ve had one wrong thing after another happen, and I feel a little defeated right now. So, I am thankful that regardless of what is happening to me and what is going on, God still loves me.

This week I have something weighing heavily on my heart in my personal life. However, on Monday I had tea with a very good friend of mine that I haven’t seen in a while, and she was able to offer me some perspective on this issue. And on Tuesday I hung out with some of my classmates, and they too were able to talk to me about this issue. It just makes me realize how thankful I am to have good friends from various different backgrounds (people of different ages, some Christians and some not, etc.).
