Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
A collect is a short liturgical prayer, variable according to the day, the season of the church year, and the occasion. Collects for each Sunday are assigned according to the church year and are all listed in the Book of Common Prayer.

We’re currently on day 2 of the 12 days of Christmas. My prayer is that we extend our celebration of Christ’s birth throughout Christmas, and into the new year!
I’m currently enjoying one of my Christmas presents – I’m watching The Nativity Story with my parents. It is wonderful to remember what it may have been like so long ago in Bethlehem . . .

My prayer for today is that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that we keep the joy we felt today throughout the coming year!

I pray that we open our hearts to the true reason for the Christmas holiday, and that we remember what it is that we have been anticipating all throughout advent – not Christmas presents or even delicious food with the families we love, but the coming of our Savior.
