I pray today that I am able to get back into the groove of working now that I’ve had a week off, LOL! It’s been so nice to have some free time and to visit with my family, but now it’s time to get back to the daily grind!

It’s my last day at home in Florida, and I pray for my family. I love them dearly, and I will miss them SO MUCH when I have to go back to Atlanta . . .

31 Days of Wishes: Wish #27

Today’s prayer is a little silly and slightly petty, but it’s what we’re praying for right in the moment! As usual, when I come home I play computer doctor, and part of my treatment this time has been upgrading my mother’s computer to Windows 7. The process is not going as smoothly as we’d hoped, and at the moment we can’t get the new computer to accept access to the wireless network. And we can’t find her install disks for Microsoft Office, so she has nothing to work with. I’m praying that we can get these issues to resolved because I don’t think I can troubleshoot this over the phone once I’m gone!

Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

A collect is a short liturgical prayer, variable according to the day, the season of the church year, and the occasion. Collects for each Sunday are assigned according to the church year and are all listed in the Book of Common Prayer.

We’re currently on day 2 of the 12 days of Christmas. My prayer is that we extend our celebration of Christ’s birth throughout Christmas, and into the new year!

I’m currently enjoying one of my Christmas presents – I’m watching The Nativity Story with my parents. It is wonderful to remember what it may have been like so long ago in Bethlehem . . .

I pray that we open our hearts to the true reason for the Christmas holiday, and that we remember what it is that we have been anticipating all throughout advent – not Christmas presents or even delicious food with the families we love, but the coming of our Savior.
